Last week, I introduced Chi-May Tomb to you. This week, I am going to
introduce something more about Chi-May! That is – the Twin hearts Stone Tidal Weir
(雙心石滬)! It’s a stone tidal weir which shape was built into twin hearts.

You may wonder that, what’s the stone tidal weir? The stone tidal weir is
a very intelligent gadget designed by our ancestors to catch fish. They collected a lot
of stones and then piled them up into circle. But why the fish would be stuck
in the stone tidal weir? That the most smarted part of the design! The
ancestors left a gap that is formed by two lines that is bent in the circle. So,
when the tide rises, lots of fishes will follow the water and flow into the stone cycle.
But when
the tide ebbs, the fish keep stay in the stone circle until the tide ebbs to a
very low level, they want to swim out but just got stuck, so the human beings
just wait for the ebb tide and come to catch the fish!

Actually I haven't been to Penghu before, but I hope I can visit there someday. But I am wondering what's the best thing for tourist to do in the winter if I travel there? Is it as cold as Taipei? Because my family were planning to Penghu during spring break, however, at last they gave up the thought. We are heading to Gaoshung, instead. But I am still curious what to play at Penghu while winter :)
ReplyDeleteActually, there are no tourists visit Penghu in winter. Because it's cold and the wind is as strong as the typhoon because of the 東北季風. So it's always an economical problem for Penghu because all the activities are almost stopped in winter. So it's better to visit Penghu in summer.:)
DeleteI’ve been there when I was in the senior high school. It was my first time to take an airplane and it’s a special experience for me. The stone tidal weir is very beautiful especially saw that on my own eyes. The scenery is very splendid and I’m touched by its beauty. But before I arrived at Chi-May it was a hard time for me because I was seasickness then. But it’s worthy of having this trip.
ReplyDeleteActually, I have been to Penghu before! It is really a beautiful island with warm hospitality! I also have visited Chi-May,by taking yacht, and the voyage made me almost vomit(in fact, I did! lol)! However, the Twin hearts Stone Tidal Weir is so beautiful that made me sober up! I know that there are many newlywed going there to take the wedding photo, and it's really romantic!!
