In the last part of Chi-may, I will introduce two parts of it. One
is Little Taiwan(小台灣) and the other is Waiting Husband reef(望夫石). The small
Taiwan is a very special terrain eroded by the sea. The shape of it is just
like the real Taiwan, so many tourists come here to take a look of The small
Taiwan every year!
Long time ago, most males in Chi-May made their living by going
fishing on the sea. It’s a very dangerous work. So, many people never come back
and because of that, Chi-May was called The island of widows. Legend has it
that there were a loving couple living there happily.Whenever the husban went fishing on the sea, the wife would stand on the seashore, waiting for him to come back. But the wife didn’t give up to waiting, she
never left there and at last, she died. The villagers buried her by the coast
and strangely, a stone by the coast gradually become the shape of a pregnant woman,
and people then consider it as the waiting wife.

When I just clicked your blog and saw your picture, I exclaimed"Woo!It is Taiwan!"This stone is really special ha ha:)In addition, the story about 望夫石 is very touching.In the past, couples were usually loyal.On the contrast, our affections are indiffernt nowadays.Therefore, I think this stone has a inspiring story.Moreover, Penghu is really beautiful, but I haven't gone to there before:(

ReplyDeleteSuch a nice legend that attracted me to acquaint and visit. Is there only for taking photo? Have any other entertainment that we must not miss? I'm a girl who like natural and travelling. Thus, if there is a chance, i think i will visit Small Taiwan! I like island because there is far away from city and can let me rest alone without noise. Until now, I had visited few shores where is 福隆、頭城、野柳、新竹. I know every shores around Taiwan is different because of the terrain. Thus, I have a dream which is leave my steps on every shores.

Hey lavender :) It's really cool to found that you live in penghu, the scenery looks really nature and some places like these two you introduced are really special. In taiwan, It seems that every special scenery has it's own legend. Though I'm not sure it's true or not, they are all touching and beautiful stories, thanks for sharing the awesome picture and your hometown to us.
