The sea food (part one)

This week, I want to introduce some delicious seafood that I have tasted before and what I would like to recommend it to you. The spiral shells(鐘螺) are not so easy to get so that it’s a little bit expensive(they were very much long time ago, but people over-catch them so they become very precious now). We often boil it with pure water when it is still fresh, but the follow skill is the key about whether you can eat it or not. Because its special shape, the meat is very deep in the shell and being the shape of a big spiral. So, we have to work hard to knock it on clockwise, so the meet will gradually slide out then you can eat it. The meet chewed very firm texture, and taste a little sweet with a special taste that only belongs to very fresh sea food (sorry I have no appropriate adjective to describe such a delicious taste.) And there is another thing that you have to notice. In the end of the shell meat, there is a long blackish green stuff attaching on it, and you have to remove it before you eat because it taste bitter (it’s the internal organs of the spiral shell.).

Chi-May (last part)

In the last part of Chi-may, I will introduce two parts of it. One is Little Taiwan(小台灣) and the other is Waiting Husband reef(望夫石). The small Taiwan is a very special terrain eroded by the sea. The shape of it is just like the real Taiwan, so many tourists come here to take a look of The small Taiwan every year!

Long time ago, most males in Chi-May made their living by going fishing on the sea. It’s a very dangerous work. So, many people never come back and because of that, Chi-May was called The island of widows. Legend has it that there were a loving couple living there happily.Whenever the husban went fishing on the sea, the wife would stand on the seashore, waiting for him to  come back. But the wife didn’t give up to waiting, she never left there and at last, she died. The villagers buried her by the coast and strangely, a stone by the coast gradually become the shape of a pregnant woman, and people then consider it as the waiting wife.

From left to right is the head, the breast, the pregnant belly and the feet!
